Solstice Celebration

The winter solstice is upon us and I couldn't be happier. It means that the days will get longer (if only infinitesimally) and spring and new growth will eventually come. Where I live in Colorado, the weather hasn't exactly been cold and we've yet to have a legitimate snowfall, but recent events have generated a sense of deep, dark sorrow.
So, to celebrate that things will get better, I'm holding another raffle. Respond to this post and tell me which of my print books you'd like (sorry, electronic versions are not eligible), and I'll draw a winner the morning of Saturday, Dec 22.
Here's to brighter days ahead.

  1. Yesterday by 2 pm I had to start turning on lights. Like you, I'm so glad we can look forward to more light. January, oddly enough, happens to be one of my favorite months simply because there's more light. :)

What a nice giveaway. I have The Knitter's Handy Guide to Top-Down Sweaters in electronic version, but I'd love to have it in print, too. Happy holidays, Ann!

  2. Solstice, Solstice, thank you for celebrating!

I already have several of your books, & love so many more, but... I would especially love to own my own copy of KNITTED GIFTS!

  9. Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your books. I'd love to see Top Down Sweaters on my bookshelf. I've been hearing from some people that with the recent tragic events they would like to start doing random acts of kindness to bring joy to people this holiday season....your post is perfect. I'm off to go do the same for someone. I'm baking a bunch of cookies for my neighbors. I don't really know them or if they eat sweets, but hey it is the holidays and a perfect time to say hello and start chatting with them.

  10. I would really like the Top Down Sweaters book.

  11. I have a number of your books already, so Sock Knitting Master Class would be the one for me. I went to college in Colorado starting in 1999, the fall after Columbine and there were other freshman starting with me who went to Columbine. Only one ever discussed it with me and you could tell the effect. I hope that we as a country have the political will to take steps to do as much as we can to prevent recent events from ever happening again.

  12. I keep telling my boys (as they drag themselves out of bed) only a few more sleeps until it'll start getting lighter... I'm currently borrowing your book of Top Down Sweaters to see If I like it and it's gone to the top of my list of books to buy!

  13. Well I already have the majority of your books (I'm a HUGE fan) But I don't have Sock Knitting Master Class....yet ;)

    Happy Holidays!

  14. At my age, I can't get enough light to work by. So for knitting sake alone, bring on the light!

I have many of your books already, but not The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns.

  15. Happy Solstice! I'm a proud owner off all the books except Top Down Sweaters. I'd like to add Top Down Sweaters to my library!

  20. Like so many commenters, I have several of your books. These days, I'm focusing on keeping things simple (life is complicated enough), so I'd love to have your book, Simple Style.

    Happy holidays!

  21. Solstice! Longer days! New Growth! Yes, exclamation points. Grey is my favourite colour ... just not for the sky. I still don't have words for recent events. I've just taken out my sticks and strings and am knitting (and crocheting) for those who needs comfort.

It's difficult to chose one of your books over any others. I've long wished for The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns. However, since I've been knitting more of my sweaters top-down lately, The Knitter's Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters would definitely help save time and let me double check my gauge calculations.

  22. December 23 will be the first year we celebrate my mom's birthday without her... definitely looking forward to the return of light to body and soul.

  35. If I'm lucky enough to be chosen, I'd like the Sock Knitting Master Class. It's one of the few of your books that I don't have. I love the Top-down Sweater book so much that I have it both in e-book form (for travel) and hard copy (arm-chair dreaming). I'm looking forward to the substitute knit of the Unisex Zip sweater that you plan to do for us. Thank you.
