Solstice Celebration

The winter solstice is upon us and I couldn't be happier. It means that the days will get longer (if only infinitesimally) and spring and new growth will eventually come. Where I live in Colorado, the weather hasn't exactly been cold and we've yet to have a legitimate snowfall, but recent events have generated a sense of deep, dark sorrow.
So, to celebrate that things will get better, I'm holding another raffle. Respond to this post and tell me which of my print books you'd like (sorry, electronic versions are not eligible), and I'll draw a winner the morning of Saturday, Dec 22.
Here's to brighter days ahead.

Yesterday by 2 pm I had to start turning on lights. Like you, I'm so glad we can look forward to more light. January, oddly enough, happens to be one of my favorite months simply because there's more light. :)

What a nice giveaway. I have The Knitter's Handy Guide to Top-Down Sweaters in electronic version, but I'd love to have it in print, too. Happy holidays, Ann!

Solstice, Solstice, thank you for celebrating!

I already have several of your books, & love so many more, but... I would especially love to own my own copy of KNITTED GIFTS!

Like Diana, I am glad to know that the days will begin lengthening soon. Thanks for the great giveaway -- I'd love to have the top-down sweater book in my library!

As always, your generosity makes me smile. If I won, I would love The Knitter’s Handy Book of Sweater Patterns. Thank you!

The Knitter's Book of Patterns would be at the top of my list! Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your books. I'd love to see Top Down Sweaters on my bookshelf. I've been hearing from some people that with the recent tragic events they would like to start doing random acts of kindness to bring joy to people this holiday season....your post is perfect. I'm off to go do the same for someone. I'm baking a bunch of cookies for my neighbors. I don't really know them or if they eat sweets, but hey it is the holidays and a perfect time to say hello and start chatting with them.

Shirley said...

I would really like the Top Down Sweaters book.

Rebecca said...

I have a number of your books already, so Sock Knitting Master Class would be the one for me. I went to college in Colorado starting in 1999, the fall after Columbine and there were other freshman starting with me who went to Columbine. Only one ever discussed it with me and you could tell the effect. I hope that we as a country have the political will to take steps to do as much as we can to prevent recent events from ever happening again.

I keep telling my boys (as they drag themselves out of bed) only a few more sleeps until it'll start getting lighter... I'm currently borrowing your book of Top Down Sweaters to see If I like it and it's gone to the top of my list of books to buy!

Well I already have the majority of your books (I'm a HUGE fan) But I don't have Sock Knitting Master Class....yet ;)

Happy Holidays!

At my age, I can't get enough light to work by. So for knitting sake alone, bring on the light!

I have many of your books already, but not The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns.

Happy Solstice! I'm a proud owner off all the books except Top Down Sweaters. I'd like to add Top Down Sweaters to my library!
Thanks.

Like so many commenters, I have several of your books. These days, I'm focusing on keeping things simple (life is complicated enough), so I'd love to have your book, Simple Style.

Happy holidays!

Solstice! Longer days! New Growth! Yes, exclamation points. Grey is my favourite colour ... just not for the sky. I still don't have words for recent events. I've just taken out my sticks and strings and am knitting (and crocheting) for those who needs comfort.

It's difficult to chose one of your books over any others. I've long wished for The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns. However, since I've been knitting more of my sweaters top-down lately, The Knitter's Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters would definitely help save time and let me double check my gauge calculations.

December 23 will be the first year we celebrate my mom's birthday without her... definitely looking forward to the return of light to body and soul.

(Several of your books are on my wish list, but I think The Knitters Handy Book of Sweater Patterns tops it right now.)

So exciting and nice of you to offer a book. I have several but somehow missed getting Simple Style. I would love to win that one.

I own most of your titles, but haven't picked up Top-Down sweaters yet and that is my favorite construction method so I'd love a copy of that if Santa doesn't deliver (and he probably won't).

It's raining and grey over here and therefore glum. I think that it would make a difference if it would really be snowy and/or frosty. I would really like to see the knitter's handy book of sweater patterns.

I would love to have the knitter's guide to top-down sweaters in book form. I have the electronic version which is great, but there is nothing like a book to actually read and thumb through.

If I'm lucky enough to be chosen, I'd like the Sock Knitting Master Class. It's one of the few of your books that I don't have. I love the Top-down Sweater book so much that I have it both in e-book form (for travel) and hard copy (arm-chair dreaming). I'm looking forward to the substitute knit of the Unisex Zip sweater that you plan to do for us. Thank you.

IT's been dark and dreary here too, but knitting is a great way to cheer oneself up! I would dearly love to have The Knitter's Handy Guide to Top-Down Sweaters. And I'd like to wish you and yours a very happy holiday season.

Cold, but there's still sunlight on clear days. We would go mad without it, as they days are so short. A copy of Knitted Gifts would help speed the time.

Although it's probably way above my expertise at this point, I'd love to have a copy of "Sock Knitting Master Class". There are a lot of lovely patterns in there!

I do much of my Christmas gift knitting in the week after Christmas. Maybe it's the return of the light that inspires me! Which means I'm gonna need The Knitters Book of Patterns, so I can turn the yarn in the cedar chest into hats and gloves and vests.

Decisions, decisions. Oh, boy. I'd love to win The Knitter's Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters. Or Sock Knitting Master Class. I have to keep checking them out from the library (and putting myself on the waiting list) because I hinted that I'd like one or both for Christmas, which means I can't buy them until after Christmas. *headsmack*

And count me in the "yay, longer days are coming" fan club!

I seem to be knitting lots of top down sweaters for the grandkids.

I'd love the Sock Knitting Master Class book.

I make socks for me, but more socks for my son (size 18EEEE shoe).

I'm getting bored with the regular socks, and need something to expand my horizons.

Have a wonderful holiday.
